EST. 2018

Made around one shared table.

TrueScene Clay Studio began when three makers noticed that many creative spaces rewarded speed instead of attention.

OUR MISSION

We make clay education approachable, specific, and social.

Every class balances a useful technique with room for personal interpretation. We believe the best work happens when people feel safe to experiment, fail, and try again.

The promise we make to every student
  • 01 Clear instruction without condescension
  • 02 Time to finish what you start
  • 03 Honest feedback that builds confidence
OUR STORY

From a small weekend table to a busy neighborhood studio.

It started in Mara’s garage with three folding tables and a single kiln. Word spread through friends, then friends of friends. By the second year we had a waitlist of over 200 people. We moved into our current space on 17th Street in 2021 and have been growing ever since—always guided by the same idea: create a room where people can slow down, ask practical questions, and leave with work that feels genuinely theirs.

Today more than 1,800 students have taken a class with us. Many return year after year. Some have become teachers themselves.

What we value
01

Generous teaching

We explain the why behind each step and welcome different ways of learning. Questions are never an interruption.

02

Useful patience

We treat mistakes as information and build skills through repeatable practice. Progress is measured in understanding, not perfection.

03

Creative company

We celebrate distinct voices rather than one approved look. Your work should look like you made it.
